Christopher Knight in yesterday's LA Times details the tragic loss to our city of one the most important paintings to become available in years, Duccio di Buoninsegna's 'Madonna and Child'. This painting has instead just been hung at its new home - the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York - instead of the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
And why you might ask? Well, because Barry Munitz's Getty seems to be interested in spending money for art everywhere in the world - except Los Angeles.
