Literary Debate - NOT - At LA Times!

Back in the distant recesses of time... six days ago, to be exact (or five hundred subscription cancelations ago, to put it in Times language) ... the LA Times announced a new - interactive - blog.

http://newsblogs.latimes.com/books/

What is L.A. lit?

We've gathered a group of L.A.-based writers to discuss the current state of literature in the City of Angels. Looking back on the year in fiction, we ask our esteemed panelists what they see as the most surprising and interesting development in local writing and where are we going from here?

Can an L.A. aesthetic be quantified, defined? Or has it become so inchoate, spread as thinly as the city's landscape, that pinning down a certain sound and feel (as was evident in the distinctly L.A. style of 1940's noir) becomes an exercise in futility? Welcome to the debate.

It has been - daily - heavily pushed on the front page of the website.

Discuss the current state of literature in the City of Angels. JOIN THE DEBATE.

Two days ago, three worthy writers - Tod Goldberg, Gary Phillips and Samantha Dunn - with impeccable demographic credentials - began to post - and they were quite good posts.
(Well - they are writers, after all.)

So what's the problem?

Well, six days after this interactive feature was unveiled - it yet remains - totally un-interactive.
So, I guess we are supposed to debate... that.

UPDATE!

Seven days later... interaction crawls into action...
