Pop-Up 4,000 Foot Fashion Store in DTLA Arts District Features Rodeo Drive Quality Retail


While many of us in Downtown LA have been busy with the election - and congratulations to our new Mayor Eric Garcetti - that has not slowed down the number of new stores, restaurants, bars, housing developments and arts projects that are being daily announced.  However,  it did slow down our taking public note of all these new additions.

One of them is the Guerrilla Atelier 4,000 pop-up which opened for just 30 days last Saturday in the Arts District.  Luckily RACKED LA has all the details - and plenty of photos.  And if you are wondering why this story is important to you even if you don't shop at this type of store, well,  lots of tourists shop at these types of stores - and tourism is one of the biggest industries in this fiscally challenged state.  And if you live or work in LA - our city's chronic budget deficit is due - in part - to the loss of sales tax revenues to the shopping districts of Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Culver City and Pasadena.
Downtown LA's booming retail scene has a new tenant named Guerilla Atelier. Opened last Saturday, the 30-day concept shop was founded by former Prada Beverly Hills Epicenter director Carl Louisville, who's apparently known as the "unofficial mayor of Rodeo Drive" for his in-depth knowledge of the ritzy shopping stretch.
Determined to bring a luxury experience to the Eastside, Louisville's 4,000-square-foot space in the Arts District features a "raw, industrial chic" look that "feels like a boutique in the Marais district of Paris," he explains. The spot is stacked with a handful of fancy fashion and decor brands, including Venus et Jude (an exclusive from Paris), Borelli handmade Italian clothing, French vase line Ecustom, dinnerware from Five Zero Table Conversations and custom-designed furniture from LA's own Phillip Manzanares. There are also a few familiar names in the mix, including Beckley, Mr Freedom and Melissa McClure.
